Workshops
Around 20 workshops will take place during the World Conference. They will fit under the following thematic clusters (provisional):
• Relevance of ESD for key sustainable development challenges
• Building partnerships for ESD
• Building capacities for ESD
• ESD and the teaching-learning process
Workshop themes will be announced in October 2008.

>>There is a proposal for a workshop dealing with Risk Management and Education for Sustainable Development coordinated by ISDR and UNESCO Paris. Additional workshops concerning the subject will not be possible.
Project-based Workshops
In the afternoon of the second day of the conference, all participants will have the opportunity to visit a project-based workshop at ESD projects in the region.
The aim of the project-based workshops is to strengthen the international exchange of good practice.
>> Deadline is already expired, but if a proposal for a project (or at least an email with an expression of interest) is sent in the next days it could still be considered and possibly integrated.

Special Events
Special events take place at the conference venue or in workshop rooms during lunch hours and in the evening. They need to be organized and completely funded by the requesting institution. Also Interpretation will need to be arranged individually. Organizational assistance can only be provided with the arrangement of premises, technical facilities and catering. Topics of special events should be closely linked to the four conference objectives and have an international or regional focus.
Completed request forms are to be submitted until 30 November 2008. The World Conference organizers decide on approval of a special event after submission of the request form and will inform the applicant accordingly.

ESD Projects Exhibition
Within the conference venue 25 ESD projects, balanced both in terms of regions and types of education settings will be presented. International organisations will be exhibiting, too.
Projects can apply to be selected by filling out the questionnaire; in a second step by the end of October the World Conference organizers will select exhibition projects in consultation with the International Advisory Group.

Deadline 15.09.2008!!
If an interesting project is submitted in the very near future it could still be considered.
